I am running for Pima County Sheriff because it's time for County residents to feel confident that their sheriff can offer tangible solutions to today's issues. Crime has been allowed to steadily rise to alarming levels and our streets have become more dangerous.

It's time to reduce the rising crime rate, get tough on criminals and make our neighborhoods safe again.

I can get the job done.

ISSUES

My Plan is to:

1. Put more deputies back into our neighborhoods to make our streets safer for you and I. Get tough on those who use crime as a way of life. Reinstate the Anti-Gang unit and demand tougher sentencing.

2. Make the jail a safer work place to protect staff and officers. End over crowding by erecting tents. Explore other avenues for incarceration to include mandatory work gangs to help reduce the cost of inmates being incarcerated.

3. Dedicate more deputies for a quicker response time to protect our neighborhoods from the drug smugglers, human smugglers, and other crimes being perpetrated by the border issues. Issue up-to-date equipment to detect hidden criminals and protect the officers in the field.

Experience Where it Counts

Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1967 VNE/DAV.

Patrolman for Coolidge PD and was in the top ten percent of the Central Arizona Regional Law Officers' Training Academy and received the highest firearms qualification in the academy, Distinguished Firearms Expert award.

Correctional Officer for the Department of Corrections and patrolman for the Kearny Police Department.

Returned to Corrections in 1984 and was promoted to Correctional Programs Officer and also the rank of Lieutenant.

Assignments encompassed Support Services Lieutenant which included being the acting Warden in the Warden's absence, being in charge of all inmate labor contracted to the City of Florence, Coolidge, and local farmers, and the farms run by the Department of Corrections.

Assignments also included being in charge of the Florence North Unit tent city, swing shift Complex Commander with complete authority over the 4100 bed prison complex in Tucson, and a Facilitator at the academy.

In 2000 moved to Illinois and was employed as the Account Operations Manager (Pre, During and Post 9/11) for security at the State of Illinois Building which housed the Governor's office, State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and other sensitive law enforcement agencies.

In 2002 moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina and was employed with Spartanburg County Detention Center and quickly promoted to Officer ll.

Presently employed by Raytheon Missile Systems in the Plant Protection Division in the Security Forces section under Department Of Defense guide-lines where specialized firearms and anti-terrorist training has been provided.
